Cookeville Rotary Club Supports Literacy Camp

Summer 2024

The Cookeville Rotary Club has partnered with Elinor Ross Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School to provide necessary meals to young learners. The six week camp is focused on literacy and cultural enrichment among children 1 - 5 years of age. The camp is free for children to participate for families who qualify for free or reduced lunch programs. Rotary’s contribution and focus was to assist the children through reading programs and funding the nutrition program which included two daily meals and snacks for each student for the duration of the camp.

  • RAM Clinic

Each year Cookeville Rotary provides support including free water and sanitary services in order to help host the Remote Area Medical Clinic (RAM Clinic). This enables thousands of people to gain access to much needed free health care services over utilizing volunteer medical professionals from across the nation.

  • Excellence in Teaching

Our Educators have a great impact on our community. Once a year Cookeville Rotary hosts an Excellence in Teaching award event recognizing the ‘Rotary Teachers of the Year’. This includes honoring a teacher in each school as well as the top overall teachers county wide. Teacher’s essays are read and honored in a Rotary Program towards the end of the School Year.

  • A Green Thumb

Each year Cookeville Noon Day Rotary volunteers manpower in an effort to plant hundreds of trees in our local area. This supports wetlands and drainage areas impacted by development in our local community.

  • Rotary Cook Team

Noon Day Rotarians volunteer in force to cook on several occasions to support initiatives. The Rotary Pancake Breakfast is hosted in March each year. The Pancake Breakfast raises thousands in Rotary Scholarships for students to attend local Universities.
