Most know it as poliovirus. The virus is spread person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can attack the nervous system, and in some instances, lead to paralysis. Although there is no cure, there is a safe and effective vaccine – one which Rotary and our partners use to immunize over 2.5 billion children worldwide.

The End Polio Purple Pinkie Campaign is an initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds to support the global effort to eradicate polio. The campaign gets its name from the practice of marking a child's pinkie finger with purple ink to signify they've received the polio vaccine. This small but powerful symbol represents hope for a polio-free world.
Through community events, school programs, and individual contributions, participants in the Purple Pinkie Campaign help Rotary International and its global partners in the fight to end polio. Donations made through the campaign fund vaccines, healthcare workers, and educational outreach, bringing the world closer to eliminating polio for good.
